The perks of working at a Dr. Office

I work at a local dr. office in Guntersville and  I love it. It is laid back and not too crazy like working at a hospital. (which I worked at for a little over a year) Some of the great perks of working here is the environment is more laid back, you get close to the people you work with, you get free food from drug vendors and you get goodies periodically around holidays and such. I'm all for freebies so i love when drug vendors bring in goodies. Its also a great way for other drug vendors to advertise their products and new and improved medication. A doctors office is the place to be if you have family as well. It is easier to ask off or need off in case of an emergency than anywhere else I have worked. You become family with the people you work with and really start to enjoy it. 

Turkey Day

Thanksgiving is THIS week! This year has seemed to fly by and I imagine it will only go by faster. It is easy to get sucked into the holiday sales and "specials" but it makes us forget what we really need to be thankful for, our families and loved ones. This Thanksgiving be sure to remember that material things are replaceable but your loved ones are not. Alot of businesses are doing the Black Friday different this year by not opening very early on Friday or by having the sales for 2-3 days instead of just one day. I think this is a great way to handle the holiday that follows Thanksgiving and letting employees be able to spend time with their families. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope it is a safe holiday for all.

Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday is one of the biggest if not the biggest online sale that is after Black Friday. I am just now finding out about this. I try to buy things throughout the year so I don't get sucked into the Black Friday craziness. I do a lot of online shopping already so i'm not sure if i will be participating in this, and ill probably already be broke if I do end up going to Black Friday. Online shopping has become much more convent for a lot of people. I like it more because you don't have to hassle at a store with other people around, you get some good deals and can almost always find a code to give you an additional discount. Retailmenot.com is one of the best websites to go to to find discounts code for online shopping I use it almost every time I online shop. 

Vote

I was sick during this years election day for the state. The candidates for this year were sure to place their logos and slogans EVERYWHERE. Their advertisements were anywhere and everywhere you looked in town and in alot of peoples yards as well. One candidates slogan was "want Obama out vote for me" or something similar. I don't think it was best to use our current president to help with your votes. He is our president and deserves that much respect, even though I am not a fan of him I wouldn't use him during a campaign. I don't think it was best for their marketing strategy but I guessed it worked in some ways. 

Black Friday Boycott

A popular topic this year has been boycotting the famous Black Friday, if you're unaware of what this is it is when the best deals of the year are available at the unreasonable hour of 4am on the day after Thanksgiving. People trample over each other and its a mad house everywhere you turn. I have had to work during one Black Friday and its not fun at all for the employees that have to work it. It is an all day event and takes away from time you could be spending with your family. I have seen a few places announce that they will not be participating in this years Black Friday, I think it is great that some companies are letting their employees be off and get to spend time with their families.I try not to go to any Black Friday events mostly just because I enjoy my sleep and time with family.  

Hotel Room Pricing

I used to work at a Hampton Inn in Guntersville AL, I was actually a front desk Manager so I know alot of in and outs of the hotel business. During the summer you can expect rooms at this hotel to be up to $149.00 plus tax a night. That sounds a little ridiculous right? Well because this hotel has a "lake view" (which is really only on one side of the hotel and on one corner of the building) the general manager marks the rooms up higher during the summer and holidays in the summer. In the winter the rooms go down a significant amount like $98.00 plus tax, sometimes $89.00 plus tax! Major difference in when you decide to travel. During the summer Guntersville gets a lot of tourism for fishing, wake board competitions, etc. so the hotel marks their prices way up. 

Yes to the Dress

I'm sure almost everyone knows about the lifetime TV show "Say Yes to the Dress." This weekend I was able to experience this because I went shopping with my friend for her wedding dress. Here are some things that stood out to me. We went to Davids Bridal in Chattanooga, TN, at this location they were all very friendly and accommodated our needs, but I feel like the consultant we had could have done a little more to make this day more memorable  for my friend. At the end of the day she did find her dress and the tradition at Davids Bridal is every lady that finds her dress rings the bell and makes a wish that will come true on their wedding day. Overall it was very enjoyable. 

Mary Kay

A friend of mine sales Mary Kay makeup and she is the most driven person I know in building up her business in Mary Kay. Every month she has new products and will contact her customers and see if they would like to book a party with her so she can show you how the new products are amazing to have. She also tries to get people to join her team in selling Mary Kay. Just being around her I can visualize myself selling Mary Kay and making  a lot more money for myself. I am not as driven as her so I haven't decided to just yet but am thinking about it. She helps launch new products in the Mark Kay business and she has done great for herself in selling Mary Kay products. 

Healthcare

Working in the healthcare field I have seen many ways that the new Obamacare act has failed. There are tons of people without any insurance (including myself) and the new Obamacare is just too expensive right now so it is leaving a good bit of people without any insurance at all. I think that it is unrealistic to ask for thousands of dollars upfront before you are even covered by the insurance plan you are needing. The E.R. departments have helped meet the needs of their patients without insurance by offering them to pay $100 in the first 24 hours and it will cover almost all of their hospital stay. The doctor office I work for lets you have the option to pay for your blood work or shots instead of it being billed to the insurance company because usually it is cheaper.

Door to door salesmen

Have you ever been sitting at home and suddenly someone knocks on your door? You're sitting there wondering if you should just ignore it but decide to be a decent person and open it to see who it is and there stands a sales person. I have had this happen several times and i always let them in to demonstrate whatever product they are trying to sell. I have bought a cooking set off one of the salesmen before too. They make it sound so simple and affordable when they are there in front of you and it just seems to fit into your lifestyle so easily until later on your paying a payment you didn't want to pay for.  They give you the motivation to want to buy this product to make your life better and make it sound so great that you wondered how you ever lived without it in the first place.

You are able to make your own robot or other gadget simply by purchasing the equipment from this website. Customers are also able to shop by levels depending on how advanced they are with making things themselves. This website even has simple things like toys for kids it ranges from just about anything you can imagine you can build yourself.

Wish you were beer

Wish you Were Beer is every beer lovers dream and defiantly catches your eye as you drive by. This bar is in Madison AL, and every time I see it I want to stop by and see what the place is about. Friends have told me that it is one of the best places to go to try new lager beer. I think they were very clever in coming up with their logo and advertising for their business.

This couple was apparently going to take a selfie of themselves and fell off at Cabo da roca in Europe. I think its ridiculous that these kids had to watch their parents die in front of them over a selfie. People really should be more careful about what they are doing and make safer choices for themselves and loved ones. I feel sorry for these kids that will always have their last image of their parents as this way.
